STEM Night, Goldilocks and The Three Little Bears
Mon, January 23, 2017
Greendale’s monthly PTO meeting turned into a problem solving extravaganza! After hearing a different spin on the iconic fairy tale, students were broken up in grade levels and given two problems to solve to help those Bears keep that little rascal Goldilocks away from their home. In K-2, students and parents had to build a piece of furniture for Goldilocks.
Using a variety of materials, they were able to construct either a bed or a table. On the upper elementary side, these scientists were asked to construct latches to keep Miss Goldilocks out of the Bears’ house. A good
time was had by everyone with some pretty amazing solutions. Incorporating STEM is one of the main goals Greendale Elementary School has for the year. As we progress, we will also include music and art as well. The school community feels that collaboration, teamwork, and problem solving will make a more successful student.
