Wallace Middle School FFA Students Compete at the Fair

Children handling sheep with a crowd of people watching.Wallace Middle School’s Junior FFA recently competed in the Washington County Fair Livestock Judging Contest. Wallace’s FFA placed second overall, which is an amazing accomplishment for a junior level team competing against senior level high school teams.

Amazingly, the top three teams for the 2017 competition were all junior teams. Shocked FFA advisors tallied the results to find that Wallace Middle School, along with two other junior level teams, had taken out senior level competitors. This is a uniquely special accomplishment, as it has never happened before. The 2nd place overall finish for Wallace Middle FFA is the highest team place since the program’s charter in 2009. Wallace FFA had several students compete. Out of these individuals, the top three scores were used to calculate the team score. Wallace’s top placing individuals included Josie S. and Jack N., who both scored 143 out of 150 possible points. The high individual for Wallace and the 5th highest scoring individual for the overall competition was Laci F. with a score of 145 points. Congratulations to these students and their coach, Morgan S., for their impressive livestock judging!
