Wallace Middle School Scientists Learn the Importance of Water Conservation

A female student works on a computer.Students in Mrs. Puriefoy’s sixth grade science class have been researching the importance of protecting and maintaining water resources.  The students began their research by forming a hypothesis to answer the following question:

“How much water do you think you use in a day?”  After discussion and comparison to 2-liter soda bottles, the sixth graders researched their daily activities to determine approximately how many liters they use in one day.  The students learned, and were surprised, that the average American uses approximately 302-379 liters of water per day!  Each student then created a PowerPoint presentation explaining methods and reasons for water conservation.
