Washington County Career & Technical Education Center | Former Student Completes Pharmacy Degree

Katie B., a 2013 graduate of the Washington County Career and Technical Education Center, graduated from with honors from the Appalachian College of Pharmacy on May 4th.  Katie became interested in a career as a pharmacist when she completed the pharmacy technician program at WCCTEC.  

Katie has worked as a pharmacy tech from 2014 to present.  She will begin work as a full-fledged pharmacist this summer. Among Katie’s graduation honors from ACP were graduating with a GPA of 3.5 or higher and leading her class with community volunteer hours.  Prior to attending ACP, she attended Virginia Intermont College on an athletic scholarship to play Women’s Soccer. She also attended Virginia Highlands Community College and earned most of her prerequisites there.

Katie credits her WCCTEC teacher, Ms. Vickie Salyer, with sparking her interest in the pharmacy profession and helping her launch her career.
