Watauga Elementary GATE Students Visit the Korean Children's Choir

Group of students from W.E.S. and Chior. On April 9th, GATE students from Watauga Elementary School had the opportunity to watch the Korean Children's Choir perform at Virginia Highlands Community College. The performance featured high energy choreography and elaborate costumes that dazzled the audience from start to finish.

Students recognized melodies such as It's a Small World and America the Beautiful. There was even a medley of songs from American composer, Aaron Copeland. The Copeland pieces featured classics like My Old Kentucky Home and Swanee River. Many of the students practiced saying "Hello" and "Great Job" in Korean and were thrilled to converse with the students following their performance. The students also created and decorated Korean paper dolls along with messages they plan on mailing to the choir as a token of appreciation for the opportunity to watch them perform!
