Watauga Elementary School | The Morning Mile

Students and Adults standing.Watauga Elementary School participated in a kickoff assembly for The Morning Mile on March 22, 2019. All students in grades 2-5 have the opportunity to participate in the program. The idea behind The Morning Mile is that students have a chance to engage in moderate to rigorous exercise.

Watauga hopes that The Morning Mile will make a positive impact on our next generation. Students will have a chance to earn a charm for every 5 miles they complete. The charms may then be added to their very own charm necklace! The Morning Mile was created in 2010 by fitness expert Fitz Koehler. Since its creation, there are now over 300 schools across the country that participate. Watauga Elementary School students are excited to be a part of this program.  We were honored to have Delegate O’Quinn, Dr. Brian Ratliff, Dr. Janet Lester, and representatives from Ballad Health to attend our kickoff. The program began on March 25, 2019.   Special thanks to our own Coach Overbay for her help in introducing the program to our school!
