Watauga Elementary Welcomes Six New Faculty Members

Six teachers stand in front of the Watauga school sign.Watauga Elementary is proud to welcome six new faculty members to its team. Ms. Sara Keith graduated from The University of Virginia's College at Wise in 2010. She previously taught for five years at J.W. Adams Combined School. She now teachers second grade at Watauga.Mrs. Jill Baldwin graduated from the University of North Carolina Wilmington and taught in North Carolina. After Mrs. Baldwin married, her family moved to Abingdon.

She has worked at Emory & Henry College with the Financial Aid Department and has her Masters Degree in Educational Media from Appalachian State University.Ms. Erin Penley graduated last May from the University of Virginia. She is beginning her career in third grade.Mrs. Lori Casteel was born and raised in Bristol, Virginia. She has taught in North Carolina for the past sixteen years. Mrs. Casteel is currently teaching fifth grade at Watauga. Mrs. Tonya O'Dell, taught special education classes at Wallace Middle School for twelve years. In 2011 she completed her Masters of Counseling from Radford. Mrs. O'Dell serves as our new guidance counselor. Mrs. Lisa Hurley taught at Tazewell Elementary School for nineteen years as an Inclusion/Resource Teacher. She transferred to Grundy High School for the 2014/15 school year as an inclusion teacher. At Watauga, she serves as a special education teacher. We are excited to welcome these exceptional professionals to Watauga Elementary.
