WMS Girls on Track Club Celebrates a Ten Year Anniversary!

A group of girls sitting on steps together wearing blue shirts. The National Girls on Track Program was developed by a female triathlete in order to develop character and confidence in young women. Adjustments were made to this program in order to meet the unique needs of Wallace students.

The girls run, stretch, and practice agilities. They also glean information about nutrition and healthy lifestyle choices. The team is coached by Whitney Ball and Patti Turpin. This spring 51 girls from sixth, seventh, and eighth grades participated in the program. Several of the ladies ran a 5k race (3.1 miles) at Sugar Hollow Park on May 2, 2015. Shannon M. finished in second place for her age group, and Sydney P. finished in fifth place. Congratulations to all these ladies for a successful tenth season!
