2018-2019 Letter From Superintendent

Dear Friends of WCPS:

Welcome to WCPS!  The education of our youth is essential to the viability of our county, state and nation. We believe our children are second to none.

We are privileged to live and work in such a remarkable community. With these privileges comes great responsibility to ensure our children come first and to remain steadfast in being “Committed to the Success of Every Student.”

To be clear, the children of Washington County deserve an education that will inspire them to reach beyond their current grasps; to learn with the best; lead with courage, innovation, civility and respect; and increase the likelihood of considerable success as a result of school life experienced here in Washington County Public Schools.  Accordingly, we must devote ourselves to all students with whom we have the privilege to serve. In this perspective, I am reminded of words once spoken of a now deceased and beloved professor of mine, “All means All and that is All, All means.”

I remain grateful to serve in the role of superintendent and I look forward to working alongside you. As we move forward together in 2018-2019, I am also prompted to consider a recent quote we have shared together here in WCPS—“If we are living our present based on our past, our future will never make history”. We look forward to our future history.

Please take full advantage of opportunities to support our students (our future) and be engaged in the school community. By working together, everyone in Washington County has a role in making a positive difference in the lives of students and families.

Warm Regards,
Dr. Brian C. Ratliff
