It was a beautiful day for the DMS Girls on the Run: Heart & Sole team members and their coaches, running buddies, and family members to celebrate the end of the season with a 5K at ETSU!

On Friday, November 10, Damascus Middle School honored veterans with a special program and lunch. During the assembly, SCA members spoke about each of the branches of the military, and the band and chorus provided special music. Mr. David Matlock was the guest speaker. The program concluded with comments by Principal Jason Matlock and a slideshow of photographs of veterans from DMS families, created by Mr. Joe Preston.

Family & friends of students are invited to donate. The homeroom with the highest participation will get a pizza party!
Holston High School Juniors & Seniors who are participating in the Red Cord Program for graduation have permission to donate also.
Call 276-739-4100 or email mchildress@wcs.k12.va.us to schedule an appointment. Appointments will be made every 15 minutes; however, walk-ins are welcome in open time slots.

The Damascus Middle School Veterans Day Celebration is tomorrow at 10:30.

Congratulations to Aiden L. and Bella G. for winning the annual Halloween Pumpkin Decorating Contest! Aiden's E.T. pumpkin took the prize for the painted category and Bella's Cookie Monster pumpkin was the winner for the carved category.

To celebrate Halloween, Ms. Childress's sixth-grade math students received a sweet reward for their hard work! They solved multistep word problems with partners, and if they solved a problem correctly, they got to go trick-or-treating at the front of the classroom.

It was a beautiful day for the DMS Girls on the Run: Heart & Sole team to run their practice 5K on the Virginia Creeper Trail! A special thanks goes to School Board member Debbie Anderson, Principal Jason Matlock, School Resource Officer Alex Connelly, Secretary Dana Lethcoe, Community in Schools Coordinator Brandon Dale and his son, and family members who supported the girls as they ran their first 5K!

The Criminal Justice Club at DMS, led by SRO Alex Connelly, sponsored a special K9 demonstration during the October club meeting. Students were excited to meet Sergeant Tanner Graham and K9 Officer Flexx!
