Students from the WCCTEC were presenters this week at the 4-H Career Fair and Reality Store on November 20-21 at the Higher Education Center. They presented their CTE experience and career goals to 8th graders from Smyth and Washington County Schools.

Criminal Justice I students learned today in class to prep and package clothing for forensic evidence in a manner that would prevent cross contamination according to the guidelines of the Virginia Department of Forensic Science. This method is used as an example for bloodstain patterns or gunshot residue.
Welding students use Miller Welding Augmented Reality Welding Systems to work on different welds. Tim Kilbourne, GO TEC training coordinator for United Way, provided this training for the students in Mr. Marousek's and Mr. McClure's classes.

Carpentry instructor Gene Greer and his students often share their time and talents for projects around the county. Two of their most recent projects were crafting a beautiful podium to be used for Wallace Middle School's Centennial Celebration and working on the Mobile Stem Lab.

Today, WCCTEC & SkillsUSA Officers held a Veteran's Day Assembly and provided a meal for our local Veterans. Thank you to the Highlands Veterans Honor Guard and all who have served our country. And a special thank you to our guest speaker, Vietnam Veteran Dickie Kiser.

Today, at WCCTEC, AHS Senior, Cadence B. who took the Sports Medicine Class as a sophomore, fell in love with nutrition. She plans to further her studies specifically in Eating Disorders in college. AHS Senior, Carys W. took the class last year and assisted Cadence with a presentation for our current Sports Medicine students on Eating Disorders. These students did an amazing job and we are proud of their leadership .
