📚✨We couldn’t be prouder of our students --they are now published authors and illustrators! They poured their hearts into their stories, and seeing their names in print is a moment worth celebrating. We wanted to share their title pages to honor their hard work and this milestone achievement.

At this time, a visitor to GSMS has experienced a medical situation. Richardsons Ambulance Service has arrived at the scene.
All students are okay.

🌅We’re starting the day with a beautiful sunrise from Glade Spring Middle School!
Wishing all of our students, staff, and families a wonderful Friday -- let’s finish the week strong!

This week’s Remarkable Rebels include two faculty members. GSMS continues to recognize anyone who has contributions to our Rebel Community!

GSMS has celebrated Red Ribbon week in many ways this week including door decoration. The topics were anti-bullying or anti-drugs.

🥗 Nothing brings people together like good food and great company! Glade Spring Middle School Principal Ms. Burke joined the awesome school nutrition team for lunch this week -- and we think that’s the perfect recipe for connection and appreciation!

Today, all 6th grade students at GSMS watched an interview with Jeff Kinney, author of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. Students were able to take of tour of Mr. Kinney’s studio, learn about his writing process, and hear an excerpt of his newest book, Party Pooper. Students also participated in a Wimpy Kid Trivia Challenge and learned about book illustrations.
Students will have the opportunity to purchase books from Mr. Kinney and their other favorite authors at the GSMS Scholastic Book Fair, October 27-31.
(Pictures to come in a few)

☀️Check out this beautiful sunrise from Glade Spring Middle School to start our Friday! Here's to wrapping up the week with positivity, hard work, and a little extra sunshine.

Students in Mrs. Cannon’s Science 8 class made Super Heroes based on an element from the Periodic Table. Each student presented his/her superhero with a detailed presentation that explained the element, properties and uses of the element.

Members of the 8th grade Agriculture Exploration class made Mrs. Burke a gift today. Students used lathe to turn a pen. This is a project that all of Mrs. Rhudy’s 8th grade students get to complete during the agricultural mechanics rotation.

These "Remarkable Rebels" were celebrated for being great friends, leaders in the classroom, and lending a helping hand. Congratulations and keep up the good work!

🕹️💿 The Glade Spring Middle School office staff threw it back to the totally rad 1990s for Homecoming Week! From scrunchies to flannel, they rocked the retro vibes in true Glade Spring style.

Glade Spring Middle School’s theme for the 2025-2026 school year is Let the Adventure Begin. GSMS selected The Call of the Wild as its All School Reads book this year. Students in multi-grade reading groups completed the book and then were able to attend the play of The Call of the Wild at the Barter Theater. Our adventure has definitely begun at GSMS already this year!

📵✨ Glade Spring Middle School hit the pause button on screens for a full “No Technology Day!”
Students and teachers traded devices for hands-on learning and face-to-face collaboration. From math manipulatives to “book biting” in English, and even scavenger hunts that tested teamwork and problem-solving skills, the day was packed with creativity and connection.
Sometimes the best kind of learning happens when we unplug to plug in with each other!
