The Davidson Fellows Scholarship

The Davidson Fellows Scholarship awards $50,000, $25,000 and $10,000 scholarships to gifted children who produce outstanding projects. To receive the award a student's project must fall into one of these categories: Mathematics, Science, Literature, Music, Technology, Philosophy and Outside the Box. Students must show exceptional work and demonstrate exemplary achievement. If awarded the scholarship, children may use the money for educational purposes only. The award is competitive and students must complete all application materials. Applicants must be under the age of 18. The scholarship program provides a nomination form and students may be nominated to receive the scholarship as well. Application deadlines are Feb. 1 of each year.

Janet Kent Cooke Foundation

The Janet Kent Cooke Foundation through its Young Scholars program offers a scholarship to high-achieving seventh-grade students. The foundation selects about 50 students each year. To be considered for the young scholar programs, applicants must demonstrate financial need and parents must complete income verification forms. Students can renew the scholarship each year. Students receive ongoing support from the foundation as well as a monetary allowance that can be used to purchase education-related materials. To qualify, students must have at least a 3.5 grade point average (G.P.A.) and demonstrate a commitment to learning. This will be determined by the selection committee. Applicants must reside in the United States. Applications are available in February of each year.

The National Society for the Gifted and Talented

The National Society for the Gifted and Talented (NSGT) provides scholarships to gifted students to help pay for tuition or to complete a project. Students can receive a $250, $500, or $1,000 award from the society. The Board of Trustees reviews applications each year and distributes awards to students who demonstrate exceptional leadership qualities as well high achievement in their field of interest. Gifted students can download the one-page application from the NSGT website. Application deadline is April 1 of every year.
