WCPS Staff, Parents/Guardians, and Families,

Washington County Public Schools are pleased to share that we are offering a new resource to support mental health and wellness. This is a free resource to help provide support for all staff, parents/guardians, students, and families in our district. We know access to mental health resources can be difficult to find and expensive when you do, thus, we have partnered with the Cook Center for Human Connection to provide mental health resources and information that hopefully will be beneficial.

These resources include a free website, WCPSparentguidance.org  that is designed to be a starting point to assist with mental health and parenting needs, with over 50 e-courses led by licensed therapists, one-hour webinars that will be held throughout the school year, and individual coaching for those who may need or desire some assistance on a one-on-one basis with a therapist.

To access these resources, click on the Mental Health Resources Medallion on all Washington County Public Schools webpages, or go to WCPSparentguidance.org, and select “Get Started Free.” Next, select “Sign Up” and set up an account. From there, you can access the resources and schedule to meet with a coach if desired. All information is HIPAA protected, not shared with anyone, and will never be reported back to the school division.

In addition to the Parent/Guardian Coaching resource, the partnership provides seven one-hour webinars, referred to as the Mental Health Series. These are designed to support parents/guardians on topics such as anxiety, the effects of screen time, building your child’s confidence, and more. The first event will be on September 13th, with Dr. Kevin Skinner presenting Mental Health Family Night at 8:00 pm. You can register here:  https://events.parentguidance.org/FMHNSept13.

The second webinar event will follow just after this one on September 19 at 7:00 pm, the topic is Supporting Your Child's Mental Health, and you can register here: https://cookcenter.info/WCPSSept19.   Other events will be announced throughout the year.

We hope these resources will be a source of support and information as we all seek to help those who may need it. If you have any questions or if we can help in any way, please contact us at 276-739-3017.
