To Our School Community-

May this find each of you wrapping up 2023 with high spirits and some peace of mind. While it is not the end of the school year, it is the end of our terms serving as Washington County school board members. Thank you for allowing us to represent our community in this manner. It has been such a privilege and an honor to say the least.

To celebrate our time serving in this role, we wanted this to be an opportunity to give back to our students because they are why we decided to be a school board member in the first place. Please join us on December 11th from 4-6pm at the Washington County School Board Office (812 Thompson Drive Abingdon, VA) as we hold time and space to collect items for our schools’ Care Closets. Light refreshments will be provided during this time for folks to enjoy as they drop off donations.

Our schools’ Care Closets are designated physical spaces within each school building where all students and families can go to get any item they may need. These needs can include school supplies, toiletries, clothing, and snacks. Meeting these needs help our students better succeed. With this invitation, you will find a list of needs that have been identified by our schools. If you would prefer to provide a gift card instead for our school personnel to purchase items for the Care Closets, we welcome that as a donation as well.

We hope that many of you can join us in giving back to our students who need some extra support. Thank you all again for letting us serve our community as Washington County school board members. We are forever grateful for this opportunity.

Sincerely,
Elizabeth Lowe
