⨠Today, Washington County Public Schools recognizes Juneteenth -- a day of reflection, remembrance, and continued learning.
On June 19, 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation, enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, learned they were free. Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and serves as an important reminder of our nationās history.
As we recognize this day, we remain committed to fostering a culture of inclusion, understanding, and respect throughout our schools and community.
