Things to Consider When Planning for Class Schedules

As the parent/guardian of a gifted learner, you may have questions about how to help your child select appropriate classes. The following links may be useful when considering learning opportunities for your child:

Virginia Department of Education Profile of a Graduate

Virginia Department of Education Graduation Requirements
Look on the right side of the screen under “Graduation Requirements” and you can choose from
different types of diplomas.

Virginia Early College Scholars Program
Students pursuing an Advanced Studies diploma may earn at least fifteen hours of college credit.

Virtual Virginia
Online classes that students may take at their high school with supervision by an in-house
facilitator. Grade level and/or class prerequisites may pertain to classes.

A Linwood Holton Governor’s School
Online classes, synchronous and asynchronous, are available to 11th and 12th grade students.
Students also earn college credit upon completion of a Governor’s School course.
